Breña Baja
Breña Baja
With an area of 15 square kilometres and a population of around 4,000 inhabitants, Breña Baja is located on the eastern side of La Palma, very close to the Port of Santa Cruz de La Palma. The municipality was named Las Breñas by the early settlers due to the volcanic nature of the terrain and its abundant vegetation.
Los Cancajos Beach is one of the island’s most attractive and accessible beaches, featuring black-sand coves that are ideal for a refreshing swim in the Atlantic Ocean. This area is also home to much of the island’s tourist activity, which continues to grow and expand.
The best viewpoint in Breña Baja is undoubtedly Montaña de la Breña, an ancient volcanic cone offering spectacular 360-degree views of the sea, with La Gomera and Tenerife visible on the horizon, as well as the island’s mountainous summit. Nearby, at the foot of the viewpoint, there is a recreational area perfect for spending a day outdoors with family and friends.
