Tijarafe<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Tijarafe is the fifth-largest municipality on the island, covering almost 54 square kilometres, which represents approximately 7.6% of La Palma\u2019s total surface area. It borders Puntagorda to the north, the island\u2019s central mountain range (Sierra de la Cumbre<\/em>) to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the municipalities of Tazacorte, Los Llanos de Aridane, and El Paso to the south.<\/p>\n

Its coastline, characterised by steep cliffs and difficult access, stretches for approximately 11.5 kilometres, accounting for around 9.3% of the island\u2019s total perimeter.<\/p>\n

Tijarafe is one of only two municipalities on La Palma that have preserved the names they were given during the aboriginal period when the island was divided into cantons<\/em>: Aridane and Tijarafe.<\/p>\n
